The first recommendation is to wear a shirt with pearl snaps rather than buttons. The second guideline is that you must wear Wranglers since the seams that may irritate you while riding are on the outside of your leg. Finally, make sure the color of your pants matches the color of your horse's coat.
These rules will help you avoid irritation from snappy clothes. However, if you still get nervous when wearing pearl snaps, then consider getting some button-up shirts instead.
The shirt might be simple, plaid, striped, or even embroidered—the more ostentatious, the better. They claim that the snaps save you from being dragged off your non-existent horse if the shirt gets hooked on a tree. I'm not sure I believe this, but anyway, it's recommended.

Belt. The belt is composed of simple cotton or webbed material and must match the uniform color. The belt must be worn by men with the clip to the left of the buckle. Women, unlike males, will wear the belt with the clip to the right of the buckle. This is considered an act of disrespect and should never be done.
The belt serves as an indicator of rank, especially for officers. It is therefore necessary that the wearer wears a belt in accordance with his/her rank. Wearing a belt with an officer's insignia on it is an act of respect towards that person.
Wearing a belt with dress blues or naval uniforms is inappropriate because it shows lack of attention to detail. For example, if a soldier wears his service weapon inside his barracks room, this indicates that he is not responsible with his equipment. Also, wearing a belt with military attire turned-down at the collar is disrespectful because it indicates that the wearer isn't interested in looking his best when attending official functions. Finally, wearing a belt with no cover is also inappropriate because it looks sloppy and unkempt.
As long as you aren't causing any problems by wearing your belt with a dress blue uniform, feel free to do so.
